Workplace of the Future VR

A linear based VR experience taking the user on a tour through the Workplace of the Future, covering a vast array of topics guided by Fujitsu’s mascot: Robopin. This experience was developed for a specific Fujitsu laptop, aimed at being a portable experience, creating challenges in optimisations, yet we still managed to create a breathtakingly scenic journey.

CONCEPT

Throughout the experience there are seven unique spaces purposely designed to fit the clients needs. The spaces and assets were all concepted prior to development, which were paramount to the projects success. Allowing us to piece by piece determine the render capability of the device, ensuring we had little to no optimisations and tweaks towards the later part of the project.

Development

Due to the application being deployed to a graphically limited laptop, we had to think outside the box. By segmenting the journey into seven sections, I created a level streaming system, allowing it to load and unload large parts of the level, thus creating the headroom to showcase remarkable visuals.

To enable life within these spaces we leveraged Anima, a crowd generating software that’s compatible with Unreal Engine. Following the importation process, we modified the characters to reduce the poly-count, but ensuring we kept the highest fidelity possible. The result, combined with spatial audio and animated content provided an enjoyable and engaging experience.

360 Video

To enable further accessibility we provided the client a 360 video of the experience, ensuring people on all devices had a chance to view Workplace of the Future VR.
