British American Tobacco VR

As part of a large scale bid based marketing campaign, BAT VR was designed and developed in under three weeks, taking the user through a holographic presentation. Presenting how Fujitsu’s technology can enhance yields in tobacco crops. Lead by Robopin, the user is lead into an auditorium where they take a seat and observe the holographic, 3D presentation, which utilises the stage props, lighting, the large curved display, which are all synchronised together.

CONCEPT

The experience consists of one space, with the stage being the focal point. So when it came to connecting the space we treated the experience as an animation.

Storyboarding to the voice-over was our priority to ensure the storytelling nature of the experience was the best it could be given the tight turnaround time.

The space itself was designed to create a grand, futuristic atmosphere, but to retain a level of familiarity.

Deployment

As the sole developer of the experience, I was elected to go to the event in London to setup the equipment and ensure the experience ran without issue. The VR experience was a success, attracting individuals to the stand and generating conversations for our client with potential future business partners.

VR Capture

The experience proved a challenge in the limited time frame, from storyboarding the narrative, creating animations both 2D & 3D, to optimising the experience to ensure we was getting the best visuals possible, it required forethought and precision. The client and the team we’re very happy with the results, take a look at the experience from start to end.
